Great golf courses start from the ground up.
The right sand strategy influences how a course plays, drains, recovers, and looks—every day, in every season.
At Short Mountain, our experts focus on golf-course sand as a performance system. We help superintendents and turf teams choose materials that fit their site, maintenance program, and player expectations. Whether you’re building, renovating, or fine-tuning conditions, we’ll help you select the best-fit sand or blend for each application.
Our Golf Sand products are designed to support the performance, appearance, and long-term manageability of golf-course surfaces. From bunkers and topdressing to root-zone and divot-repair applications, we help courses choose sands and blends that deliver consistent playability, dependable drainage, and practical maintenance performance.
Because every course is different, we work directly with superintendents, builders, and contractors to align material selection, blend design, and delivery to the needs of each project or program.
No single sand is “best” for every golf use. Bunkers, topdressing, root-zone work, and divot repair each require different performance priorities. The right choice balances:
We work with your team to align sand selection to real course goals.
Topdressing Sand (Dry or Wet)
Topdressing sand is central to surface management. The right material supports smoothness, firmness, infiltration, and long-term turf performance across greens, tees, and fairways.
We supply clean, consistent topdressing sands built for repeatable results. Our sand helps maintain uniform surface conditions, improves program consistency, and supports the playing characteristics superintendents are targeting throughout the year.
Our Topdressing Sand meets USGA particle size specifications used for topdressing programs. Many courses also incorporate peat into topdressing programs to increase organic content and improve moisture retention. Additionally, our Green Divot Fix Sand is commonly used in topdressing programs, with or without peat. We offer customizable size and blend options and will work with your team to align material behavior with your design and maintenance needs.
Need Drill & Fill support? We supply sand designed to support drill-and-fill aeration programs (including DryJect) that require clean, consistently graded sand for dependable flow and placement. Wet and dry options are available.
Bunker Sand
Bunker sand controls playability, drainage response, and day-to-day maintenance effort. It affects lie consistency, shot recovery, and how well bunkers hold their intended look after weather and play.
We supply consistent, white bunker sands designed to support predictable playability and dependable drainage. Our bunker sands are processed to minimize variability and help reduce ongoing maintenance headaches, so bunkers stay playable and presentable. For greenside bunkers, our Bunker Sand meets USGA specifications for greens-construction and topdressing, which reduces the layering risk at the bunker/green interface. We offer customizable size and blend options and will work with your team to align material behavior with your design and maintenance needs.
Greensmix (Sand + Peat)
Greensmix is a sand-peat root zone blend used where turf health and soil performance must work together. It is commonly used on greens and tees for grow-in, renovation, and construction, and is also incorporated in many topdressing programs.
Our balanced sand-peat blends are designed to support drainage, moisture retention, and root development. These products are blended for consistency and practical field performance, helping establish stronger turf and more reliable agronomic outcomes. Sand/topsoil blends are also available. We offer customizable size and blend options and will work with your team to align material behavior with your design and maintenance needs.
Green Divot Fix
A green-dyed, washed, dried, and screened sand designed to blend with natural turf color during recovery. Ideal for divot repair on tees and fairways, and compatible with common repair programs.
Our Green Divot Fix supports faster, more consistent divot recovery while keeping application simple for daily maintenance teams. It is a uniform, turf-friendly repair sand that blends in and performs. It can be combined with seed, soil, or fertilizer for repair workflows.
We also offer a Green Divot Fix and Peat Blend. This blended repair option adds organic content when recovery programs need additional moisture support and improved establishment conditions. It combines visual blend quality with practical performance in high-wear turf areas, helping crews improve consistency in demanding conditions.
